Vietnam-Korea Times makes debut in Hanoi

The Vietnam-Korea Times, the first Korean language newspaper in Vietnam, has made its debut in Hanoi.

It is the collaboration of Vietnam Pictorial, a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) publication, and a newspaper for overseas citizens of the Republic of Korea (RoK).


The ceremony drew the participation of Vietnam News Agency General Director Nguyen Duc Loi, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Do Quy Doan, Charge d'affaires at the RoK Embassy in Hanoi Oh Nak Young, representatives from central committees and agencies, Korean enterprises and people in Vietnam, and reporters.

The publication aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries; and to be a bridge for mutual understanding and trust between the two nations and peoples. It will provide information on Vietnam’s investment environment and cooperation opportunities, while serving as a reliable source of news for RoK policy-makers, scholars, businesses and the Korean community living in Vietnam.

The newspaper, published for the first time on February 25, 2013 reflects the Vietnamese Government’s interest in the RoK community in Vietnam. On the occasion of the first publication, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh sent letters of congratulation. Accordingly, ministers emphasized the necessity of publishing the newspaper at present, which is suitable with orientations for developing relations between Vietnam and the RoK to a strategic partnership and meet the demand of information about Vietnam for the community of Koreans.
