1. Project Overview
The Niger-Benin Crude Oil Pipeline is a transformative infrastructure project connecting Niger's Agadem oilfields to Benin's Sèmé Port, spanning 1,950 km.
As a critical enabler of regional energy security, this pipeline will unlock Niger's oil export potential and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
2. Key Challenge & Solution:
💡 Complex Terrain & Harsh Conditions: The pipeline traverses remote, environmentally demanding areas (sand dunes, extreme climates) with limited accessibility, posing significant security and maintenance challenges.
💡 Fiber Optic Early Warning System: To ensure robust perimeter protection, 11 precision locational F7 fiber-optic systems were deployed across all stations (each with ~1 km of perimeter). This system offers:
-High Accuracy: Pinpoints intrusion attempts in real-time.
-Low Maintenance: the system features rodent-resistant fiber-optic cables at the front end, eliminating maintenance needs while withstanding harsh physical and climatic stressors.
-Scalability: Integrated seamlessly across 11 stations, The system provides both distributed management for 11 station and centralized monitoring capability.
